AO CMF Europe and Southern Africa Board chair election

As the term of office of current AO CMF Europe and Southern Africa (AO CMFESA) Board Chair Daniel Danielsson will come to an end by mid-2021, AO CMFESA invites interested candidates who fulfill the eligibility criteria to submit their applications by midnight Central European Summer Time (CEST) on September 30, 2020.
The AO CMFESA chair position is suited to a highly motivated individual of professional repute, with excellent global scientific and clinical recognition.
The successful applicant will lead the AO CMFESA Board by overseeing and managing all board activities. The applicant must be able to work in a multicultural environment with no travel restrictions. He/she should have a good regional and international reputation, strong interpersonal skills, and recognition as a regional leader. He/she must also be a good communicator, with an excellent command of English. The new AO CMFESA Board chair is expected to have the vision to lead and contribute to AO CMF and help set new standards, positioning AO CMF as a global leader in craniomaxillofacial surgery education and research.
Eligible candidates are:
- Current or past members of the AO CMFESA Board
- Current or past members of any AO CMF global commission or task force (eg, AO CMF Community Development Commission, Web Editorial Group, Technical Commission, R&D Commission, Global Education Task Force, Education Commission)
- Residents of Europe or Southern Africa and fulfill the requirements in the job description
The successful candidate will serve as the AO CMFESA Board chair for a three-year term (from July 2021 to June 2024) with the possibility to apply for a second three-year term.
To apply, the candidate must fulfill the requirements provided in the attached job description and be an AO CMF Member.
Applications must be submitted by e-mail to Regional Director AO CMFESA Diana Greiner at firstname.lastname@example.org, by midnight CEST on September 30, 2020. The nomination committee will review all applications by October 15, to ensure that the prerequisites are fulfilled. The election will be conducted by electronic voting toward the end of October 2020. The "first past the post" election mechanism with multiple rounds (runoffs) will be used. If a candidate achieves an absolute majority in any round, she/he will be the winner. The candidate with the least votes will be eliminated at each round. Another round will be carried out if no candidate achieves an absolute majority.
The name of the elected AO CMFESA Board chair will be announced by November 30, 2020. He/she is expected to assume the post in July 2021.
The electorate includes all voting members of the AO CMFESA Board; and voting members of any AO CMF global commission or task force (AO CMF Community Development Commission, Web Editorial Group, Technical Commission, R&D Commission, Global Education Task Force) who are residents of Europe or Southern Africa. Each voting member has one vote. Candidates running for election are not eligible to vote.
