AO CMF Asia Pacific Board elections
20 July 2020
The tenures of current country representatives Yang Kwang Lim (Malaysia), Ee Cherk Cheong (Singapore), and Sunisa Rochanavibhata (Thailand) will soon draw to a close.
Therefore, AO CMF Asia Pacific announces the opening of nominations and applications for these three positions from the respective countries.
Interested candidates who meet the criteria detailed below may apply for one of these leadership positions and nominate colleagues who meet the selection criteria.
Please note: Applications and/or nominations must be submitted before September 30, 2020.
These country representatives will represent the subregion defined by the AO CMF Asia Pacific Board as the follows:
- Subregion 1: South Korea and Hong Kong
- Subregion 2: Taiwan and the Philippines
- Subregion 3: Singapore and Malaysia
- Subregion 4: Thailand and Indonesia
- Subregion 5: Australia and New Zealand
Each country representative will take a turn and only one representative per subregion will be appointed as a board member. China, India and Japan will each have an independent representative who will also act as a board member.
AO CMF Asia Pacific Board positions are suited to highly motivated individuals of regional repute and scientific and clinical recognition, both within the country of practice and in the Asia Pacific country of residence.
Candidates should be prepared to work in a multicultural environment and have no travel restrictions within the Asia Pacific region. Country representatives are expected to have the vision to contribute to the global AO CMF community and to help the regional organization to set new standards, positioning AO CMF as a global leader in craniomaxillofacial surgery education and research.
The successful candidates will become members of the AO CMF Asia Pacific Board for a three-year term (July 1, 2021 to 30 June 30, 2024). In their roles, the newly elected country representatives will oversee all board activities of AO CMF Asia Pacific with a special focus on their respective territories.
To apply for these positions, candidates must fulfill the requirements provided in the job description and be AO CMF members.
Applications must be submitted to AO CMF before September 30, 2020. These will then be handed to the Nomination Committee.
The Nomination Committee will review all applications and in October 2020 will select the candidates who fulfill the prerequisites.
The “first-past-the-post” election mechanism with two rounds (runoffs) will be used. Then the members of the Asia Pacific Board will vote. The first runoff will only retain the two candidates with the maximum number of votes. The second and last rounds will then require an absolute majority.
This election will be conducted by electronic voting in November 2020, and the result will be announced by end of January 2021.
The handover will take place in July 2021.
